For reporters covering the conversation about tech in schools.
We believe technology offers incredible promise in education and can also do incredible harm. Our goal is neither to promote technology or to advocate against it, but to make this moment legible to parents, educators, technologists, and the general public.
techlash.fyi is a public database of pushback, and support, around technology in K-12 schools: AI, screens and school devices, personal phones, social media, student data privacy, surveillance tech and named edtech products. It tracks signals from across school districts and all 50 states plus DC, and gives every state and district a 0 to 100 temperature.
It's maintained by Jon Hanover, an educator and advisor in Denver. Email with questions: jon@hawthorneducation.com.
The data is free for editorial, research and educational use. Please attribute it to techlash.fyi and link to the site where you can.
